The steps you should take when initially meeting upon a suspect suspected of injury.

D anger - Look in the vicinity for any dangers to yourself, others or the subject. You only hurt the patient by getting yourself harmed or worse.

R esponse - Check for the person's response by asking for their name, if they do not respond. Test their consciousness by twisting their ear or twisting the trapezius muscle that can be found next their neck and shoulder. If they do intend respond, make comfortable and monitor and note their response.

S end for help - Get someone to get help for the subject.

A irway - Open their mouth and observe for foreign objects, if foreign material is indeed present. Place them into the recovery position, tilt their head and open their mouth. You may attempt to remove the object at risk of the subject biting.

B reathing - Check for their breathing by listening and observing chest rise. If their breathing is absent or otherwise not completely normal. Begin CPR.

C PR - Perform CPR by completing a set which is characterised by 30 chest compressions and only recommended if you have a CPR mask, two breaths after the chest compressions. Continue CPR until someone more qualified takes over, the subject recovers or you're physically unable to do so, note that a person can perform CPR for up to 45 minutes.
